WHAT WE DO

Three ways we show up for the Magic Valley.

Prairie Falcon Audubon is a volunteer-run chapter working across south-central Idaho to connect people with the birds and habitats around them. From monthly talks with guest presenters to field trips into local birding hotspots and citizen-science efforts that feed national datasets, everything we do is built around a simple idea: the more people who know these birds, the better off they’ll be. Programs and field trips are free and open to the public.

Monthly Programs

About nine free programs a year with guest presenters. Topics range from the Cassia Crossbill and Sage-Grouse to nest box building and local conservation, something new for every experience level.

Birding Field Trips

About five bird-watching excursions a year, led by experienced birders. Participants typically carpool to Magic Valley birding hotspots to see what’s around. Free, open to the public, and welcoming to newer birders.

Citizen Science

Volunteers run five Christmas Bird Counts and a South Hills “Big Day” 24 hours, 300 miles, nearly 150 breeding species. Members also contribute to Project FeederWatch, the Great Backyard Bird Count, and more.
